Thirsty Thursday has arrived late. How about July Fourth drinks? Sparklers?

Posted on

Now, I’ve seen a lot of (literally) red, white and blue cocktails made with blue Curacao and heavy cream and I just don’t roll that way.  Not to mention the average reader does not want to spend the weekend trying to make those difficult layered cocktails.  So, I am going old school – something red, sparkly and refreshing to have at the beach, on your deck, in your yard, on your fire escape or at your weekend parties.

Red Sparkler

1 1/2 oz. Campari  – if you’ve never had this Italian herbal liqueur, it’s a bit tart and bitter, but you’ll love it!

1 oz. Prosecco (or Cava or very dry Champagne)

1 oz. pomegranate juice (or pom/berry blend)

Put Campari and juice in a cocktail shaker filled with clean, blocky ice.  Shake for a minute until shaker is frosty.  Pour into a Champage flute or coupe.  Top with sparkling wine of choice.  Garnish with something silly, like a tiny American flag, or chic, like a lemon twist.  Try not to wear your favorite white Generra jeans whilst sipping.  Now, go enjoy the fireworks.  Foodie Friday is coming up!

About lseccuro

As a mom, lifestyle expert, surfer and event planner, I love to discover the next uber-cool thing! Whether it's a shoe, a wine, a food, a photographer, a designer, a blog, a flower or a travel spot, you can find me trolling for it! I also like to blog about the kids and how running a household like this keeps me grounded. I love all things beautiful, but mostly Mr. F4 and the little ones, Ava and Leo. Things I love: sparkly anything, homecooked meals, snowy white sheets, holidays, photography, monograms, antique silver, reading everything I can get my hands on, Pilates, learning anything new, antiquing, gardening, collecting cookbooks and shoes, mixing slouchy sofas w/ sleek chairs, collecting china, the beach, Ruzzetti & Gow seashells, seersucker, Sharpies, Chanel lipgloss, counting my blessings. Drop me an email or a comment and I look forward to meeting you!
