Tuesday Shoesday. A classic.

Yes, we know that our brides are loving colored shoes, flip-flops, Chuck Taylors and being barefoot, but every once in a while, we go back to our 300 plus weddings and think of fabulous, timeless wedding shoes.  And this satin and feather Manolo Blahnik D’Orsay open-toed pump does it for us every time.  We remember more than one very modern, but traditional bride who has donned them. And you CAN make them your own.  How about painting the bottoms sky blue as your something blue?  Or using Swarovski crystals to DIY your initials and wedding date on the sole?  Yeah, we thought so.  Always a classic.

Tuesday Shoesday, Part Two – Barbara Bui, old school obsession.

Growing up, my beloved mom used to wear togs from Barbara Bui, who had a fabulous shop on the Upper East Side.  It was like a more couture-ish Chico’s vibe.  In the 80s, I stole some tunics and a great pair of boots.  Love.  Well, imagine my surprise when I attended a Halloween party and one of the guests was rocking the most gorgeous pair of shoes.  I asked who had designed them and almost spit out my “blood punch” (cranberry and vodka, folks, with lychee fruit eyeballs – we should have posted it!) when she said, “Barbara Bui”!  Which sounds like Baba Booey when you say it fast, right?

In big love with these beige python platforms with 5 inch heel.  But do go here for a look at some of the others – everyone should have a ShopStyle account – great fun to play with the app on your iPhone or iPad, organize your wishlists and get alerts when something goes on major sale, or do a Google image search of Barbara Bui shoes.  Enjoy.

Tuesday Shoesday, Part One. Gio Diev, new obsession.

We’re big fans of the typically fabulous shoes – Manolo, Jimmy Choo & Christian Louboutin as well as some beautiful budget lines like Aldo, 9 West and Old Navy.  One can find a pretty shoe anywhere, at any price.  Just know that an expensive shoe will generally last a long time (my Manolo Blahnik Carolyne slingbacks are 10 years old and worth every penny), while something more on-trend and under $100 will not.

Today, we present one of our favorite new shoe designers, Gio Diev.  This shoe is the one that captured our attention – it is navy and fuschia silver with a clear lucite heel.  Insane.  Click here to see the whole Fall 2011 collection!  More later.

Happy Tuesday Shoesday. FTW!

Drooling over these beautiful Jimmy Choos I saw today on Southern Weddings.   You DO read SW, right?  If not, you are missing out on all of the fluffy clouds of awesome.   These shoes are perfect for a bride who sparkles and shines!  And better than a silly tiara.  You do know I loathe tiaras, right?  Unless you are a 6-year-old girl.  Make that a 4-year-old girl.

Enjoy.

Tuesday Shoesday – for a Sunday!

Posted on

Well, I’ve had a heckuva holiday week and a half.  I’ve been in bed with a ruptured eardrum, sinus infection and bronchitis – so clearly, my blogging has been sporadic at best.  I’ve been told I won’t be able to hear in my right ear for another two weeks (blah!) so I have really come to appreciate all of my senses.  Time to turn over a new leaf.

Normally, I remain committed to Tuesday Shoesday, but I came across these Brian Atwood beauties and, well, enough said.  What do you think?  Did you wear fabulous shoes on New Year’s Eve?  Send us a picture in the comments section and we’d be happy to post it!

Happy, healthy, fabulous, prosperous and wonderful New Year to all of you!  xoxo
