Now, I’ve seen a lot of (literally) red, white and blue cocktails made with blue Curacao and heavy cream and I just don’t roll that way. Â Not to mention the average reader does not want to spend the weekend trying to make those difficult layered cocktails. Â So, I am going old school – something red, sparkly and refreshing to have at the beach, on your deck, in your yard, on your fire escape or at your weekend parties.
Red SparklerÂ
1 1/2 oz. Campari – if you’ve never had this Italian herbal liqueur, it’s a bit tart and bitter, but you’ll love it!
1 oz. Prosecco (or Cava or very dry Champagne)
1 oz. pomegranate juice (or pom/berry blend)
Put Campari and juice in a cocktail shaker filled with clean, blocky ice. Â Shake for a minute until shaker is frosty. Â Pour into a Champage flute or coupe. Â Top with sparkling wine of choice. Â Garnish with something silly, like a tiny American flag, or chic, like a lemon twist. Â Try not to wear your favorite white Generra jeans whilst sipping. Â Now, go enjoy the fireworks. Â Foodie Friday is coming up!
